It's Carol here letting you know what's new on DVD.

The snow is falling! It's cold outside. What better way to spend the day than curled up inside with some hot chocolate, popcorn and a great movie from Video Magic! Greg (my hubby) talked me into re-watching the Lord of the Rings movies last weekend with Justin (our son) and we really enjoyed them. We are watching the last one this weekend. These are great for a cold day at home! Whatever you pick, I really appreciate that you rent it at Video Magic. January will mark our 23rd year serving Gray and we are very proud of that.

As always, I would like to say Thank you for renting your movies at Video Magic. Without you our loyal customer and friend, there would be no Video Magic.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Trivia Answer

Answer To Trivia

This question requires some qualifications. For instance, do remakes count? I say no. Do made-for-TV movies qualify? I say no again, so scratch the bridge between Gone With the Wind (1939) and Scarlett (1994). Same for direct-to-video releases. That means Bambi (1942)/Bambi II (2006) and Cinderella (1950)/Cinderella II (2002) can't be included.

This leaves us with a bevy of candidates, each with a substantial number of years between films. There were 16 years between Chinatown (1974) and its sequel The Two Jakes (1990); 19 years between The Last Picture Show (1971) and Texasville (1990); Two full decades between this year's Rambo and Rambo III (1988). It's a tie between the pairs of Carrie (1976)/The Rage: Carrie 2 (1999) and Psycho (1960)/Psycho II (1983) at 23 years. An incredible 25 years passed between The Hustler (1961) and The Color of Money (1986).

It seems the winner in this race is the combo of The Wizard of Oz (1939) and Return to Oz (1985) at 46 years. There is some debate on whether this is a true sequel of the original by L. Frank Baum. For the purposes of this question, we'll consider it a legitimate follow-up. (You can see more commentary on this question via this thread on Ask Metafilter.)

Ten years have passed since the release of the first X Files movie, The X Files: Fight the Future, in 1998 and this year's The X files: I Want to Believe. Scully and Mulder are back in search of the strange and mysterious. Catch up with them on DVD and Blu-ray today.
